Position Purpose
The Mechanical and Electrical Fitter will be responsible for diagnostic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, breakdown repairs, and servicing of light vehicle equipment, as guided by their supervisor and trainer.
Key Accountabilities
- Compliance with all HS&E policies, procedures, and instructions, including the correct use of safety devices, protective equipment, and prompt reporting of hazardous situations.
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Taking reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others.
- Performing pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensuring inspections and maintenance are carried out on all equipment before use.
- Ensuring all tools are serviceable and safe.
- Working to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity.
- Carrying out standard workplace inspection practices and procedures and preparing areas for drilling, charging, or scraping in accordance with mine safety procedures.
- Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping.
- Liaising with the underground shift supervisor to ensure all work is done safely and efficiently, and advising when equipment is out of service and can be returned to service.
