YWCA Tanzania is seeking two dedicated and experienced Hostel Matrons to assist in managing hostel operations, ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and excellent resident relations at our Dar es Salaam Branch and HQ locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer inquiries, allocate rooms, maintain resident logs, and update communication platforms.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all residents.
- Oversee daily routines, monitor the health and social wellbeing of residents, and promote YWCA membership through them.
- Ensure the safety and discipline of hostel residents by monitoring security, enforcing hostel rules, managing visitors, and overseeing general security.
- Supervise cleanliness, report any damages, and ensure consistent availability of water and utilities.
- Collect bank slips for payments, maintain accurate records, assist with budgeting, and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Conduct market research and support resident welfare initiatives.
- Be available 24/7 during shifts (standby duties) and assist with other assigned tasks as needed.

Qualifications
- Advanced secondary education (A Level or equivalent) or any relevant diploma in Education, Theology, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar roles.
- Excellent written skills in both English and Swahili, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with staff, visitors, and residents.
- Strong computer skills, including typing proficiency, experience with data systems, and general internet usage.
- Good abilities in planning, reporting, and time management.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills for quick and accurate resolution of issues.
- Ability to maintain a respectful and professional demeanor in guest service, upholding confidentiality and integrity.
- Proven ability to manage safety, cleanliness, and resident welfare effectively.
