Full Time Assistant Stock Accountant Job at TotalEnergies Posted 1 month ago by TotalEnergies Dar es Salaam Job Description This role is responsible for supporting inventory accounting operations by ensuring accurate recording, monitoring, reconciliation, and reporting of stock transactions. The Assistant Stock Accountant plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, preparing financial reports, managing stock reconciliations, and supporting compliance with accounting standards and company procedures. The position works closely with finance, supply chain, and shared service teams to ensure proper accounting treatment of fuel, lubricants, and related inventory transactions. It also supports month-end closing activities, audit processes, and inventory controls to help maintain the integrity of financial and stock records. Responsibilities Prepare fuel and lubricant invoices for processing by the Shared Service Center (SSC) Support SSC teams in completing financial and inventory transactions Prepare daily Movement Average Price (MAP) calculations for products Reconcile vendor accounts and General Ledger (GL) balances Conduct month-end stock counts and identify inventory variances Process stock adjustments in SAP after obtaining management approval Post monthly fixed charges, including amortization and fixed expenses Account for local costs associated with imported products Ensure timely recording of VAT paid on imported lubricants Reconcile product borrowing and lending arrangements with other Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) Manage and review inventory transactions for completeness and accuracy Perform month-end inventory reconciliations Prepare and submit monthly reports on product adjustments Conduct monthly Class 3 General Ledger account analysis Prepare and follow up on Priority Accounting Controls (CCP) Respond to inventory-related queries from external auditors and Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) auditors Review fuel reception losses and measurement losses for processing in SAP Support inventory control and financial reporting activities Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a Finance or Accounting department Knowledge of inventory accounting and stock management processes Understanding of General Ledger reconciliations and financial reporting Familiarity with VAT accounting and inventory-related taxation matters Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP is an added advantage Computer application literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications General Requirements Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to meet reporting deadlines and work under pressure Strong numerical and reconciliation skills Good communication and interpersonal abilities High level of integrity and confidentiality Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational and time management skills Commitment to continuous improvement and compliance standards Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively Conclusion The Assistant Stock Accountant position offers an excellent opportunity for finance and accounting professionals to build expertise in inventory accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation, and ERP systems within a multinational organization.
