JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Attendant Livestock is responsible for the day-to-day management of livestock, designated irrigated pastures, and rangelands. The role supports sustainable livestock production by ensuring high standards of animal welfare, effective pasture management, and the maintenance of operational infrastructure in accordance with holistic grazing and regenerative farming principles.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES)
Livestock Management
Manage the daily movement of livestock in accordance with holistic grazing plans and regenerative farming practices.
Maintain high standards of animal welfare at all times.
Monitor animal health, body condition, and behaviour, and promptly report any signs of illness, injury, or distress.
Ensure animals have continuous access to clean drinking water, adequate grazing or forage, salt licks, and appropriate shelter where required, particularly for calves and lambs.
Provide supplementary feed as directed for finishing animals, dairy livestock, sick animals, or other designated groups.
Assist with routine livestock handling activities, including weighing, dipping, vaccination, identification, and other husbandry procedures as required.
Livestock Security
Ensure the security of all livestock by preventing losses due to straying, predation, or theft.
Regularly inspect and maintain fences, gates, handling facilities, enclosures, and other animal management infrastructure to ensure animals remain safely contained within designated grazing or feeding areas.
Ensure that assigned mobile phones and panic buttons remain functional, charged, and readily available to enable immediate reporting of emergencies or incidents at any time.
Report any illegal activity that is observed in the Rangelands, including but not limited to, the cutting of living trees for firewood.
Pasture and Rangeland Management
Maintain the cleanliness and condition of actively grazed or foraged fields by:
Removing stones, litter, and other debris.
Uprooting invasive or undesirable plant species.
Levelling or backfilling mounds, holes, and depressions that may present hazards to livestock or interfere with field operations.
Collect pasture seed from designated species when seed is mature and collection has been instructed.
Irrigation Monitoring
Monitor irrigated pastures during routine activities and immediately report any faults, leaks, blockages, or other issues affecting irrigation systems.
Record Keeping and Asset Care
Maintain accurate records of livestock, field activities, and operational equipment.
Complete and sign all required shift handover documentation to ensure continuity of operations.
Use all tools, equipment, and facilities responsibly, ensuring they are properly maintained.

Report any damage, malfunction, or loss of equipment immediately.
Health, Safety and Professional Conduct
Wear TPC-issued uniforms at all times while on duty to ensure employees are easily identifiable.
Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all assigned tasks, particularly during livestock weighing, dipping, chemical handling, and other higher-risk operations.
Comply with all company health, safety, environmental, and biosecurity procedures.
